In London, the violent Detective Sergeant Tom Brant (Jason Statham) is in trouble with the press and his superiors request low profile attitude to him. When a cop killer called Blitz (Aidan Gillen) attacks police officers in London, Brant is assigned to the manhunt with his chief, the gay cop Porter Nash (Paddy Considine). His investigation shows that the criminal is the hoodlum Barry Weiss, but the police can not find any evidence against Barry. When he is released from jail by his lawyer, Brant and Nash put Barry under surveillance expecting a new attack of the Blitz.

"Blitz" is a great police story for fans like me of Dirty Harry or Paul Kersey, from "Death Wish", and Jason Statham. The story has clichés, the conclusion is very similar to "10 to Midnight", but the plot is engaging and full of action. Aidan Gillen performs one of the nastiest villains I have recently seen with his cynical smile and this actor has a great resemblance with Gary Oldman. The idea of a gay police inspector is original in times of politically correct. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Blitz" A serial killer named "Barry Weiss" (played by Aidan Gillen), is going around killing police officers in London. Jason Statham plays a burned-out Detective named "Tom Brant", who has been giving his precinct some bad press lately because of his violent methods in dealing with thugs. Turned down for a promotion, he now has to work for a new boss named, "Porter Nash" (Paddy Considine), who isn't respected at the precinct because he is a homosexual. Tom puts aside his concerns and teams up with Porter Nash to try to solve the case. Now, at first I wasn't sure how this working relationship was going to play out because Tom was very opinionated and had no political correctness skills at all. Butthings progressed they both accepted the situation and they began to work well together. Even so, Tom had no intention of changing who he was and got in several good quips at Porter Nash which I thought were very humorous. Another detail I liked was that there weren't any implausible stunts or superhuman qualities on the part of the main character. Everything was realistic. I thought the director (Elliott Lester) managed to keep the right balance between each of the characters and kept everything flowing smoothly. Jason Statham was excellent. I also liked the performance of Zawe Ashton who played the part of a police officer named "Elizabeth Falls" who was struggling with a heroin addiction. All in all, while there is nothing in this movie that hasn't necessarily been done before, I believe the finished product turns out very satisfactorily. In short, this is a good, solid film.
